| Well You could always buy just 1 CB. and add Quick dissconnects to the power cords. That way all you have to do is wire in the Quick disconnects and Anntenna wires. And just swap. Not to hard to do that. Just a thought. |

I think the one I had was Isuzu Forward Cab or something.. It was for my job which at times involved driving both in Anchorage and the North Slope.. It was very stressful in Anchorage, and I never had an accident, but there were close calls that were not my fault, but would still be a PITA and possibly cost me my job. On the Slope it was alot better, because bad driving up there can mean your job in many cases, so most people usually drive good. To get the license was simple.. We had some classes that lasted a weekend, then we had to drive a course with the truck, which I passed perfectly, everyone else in the class hit a cone, I didn't even hit one. /shrug

| Hey Franky, why not go talk to Trevor and have him make you an Aluminum Fuel Cell? I mean he makes boats all day long. I am sure he could make a fuel cell. That way you could have it exactly the size and shape that you want it. Would be really cool to get like a 25-30 gallon tank in there. that way you would not have to carry much if ANY spare petro for longer trips like Hicks etc. you could also have him baffle it and put a slant feed so you will get fuel all of the time. Personally I do not trust the foam baffles. For street and strip, sure. But with the constant beating that the fuel will give the baffle offroad I think it would break apart and mess something up. The Chuggy has a 25 gallon tank and now that I tipped it correctly I can squeeze in 26.5. I wheeled 4 days in Moab and never had to even think of filling up. |

I didnt use metal ready because mine wasn't near as bad as yours but i just wire brushed it, cleaned it with marine clean, then hit it with por. Take my statement out of context if you want. All I'm saying is those engines are not junk. I know many people that run the 2.9, and the 2.8, and MOST are happy with them. Heads can be replaced, and are much cheaper than an entire engine swap. Sorry not all of us run our own 4x4 shop and can afford to go out and completely restore a killer CJ like yours. Some of us have to work with the scraps we have, and the IM laws require us to retain the original engine. IF I could legally do a 302 swap in my BII, I would. Sure it's a better choice, but not if I need to drive it year round. |

| Frank, your new set up in the front should ride like a Caddy compared to leafs. I dont know anything about the coilovers you got, but perhaps they arent right for your rig. I will never go back to leaf springs up front. As for the wheelbase thing you will like it. I was happy with my xj at 103ish, but am much happier now at 116ish. It makes things like ledges and rocks easier to climb. The added width of the new tires (what were they again?) will also help in your stability. The low cog is the only way to go. I can sidehill all day long on slopes that would have most likely put me over in the cherokee. But, I dont care what you do to your rig. nothing will beat the day I saw you, your brother, and old man climb out of that cj-5 in the middle of winter. Gives a whole new meaning to the term close family. |

| I know I'm not going but just a reminder that the Rubicon sits between 6000 and 7000' in the Sierras. The later you run into Sept the more chance of snow. The latest I've ran it is the 1st-2nd week of Sept and we woke up with a thin layer of snow on the tents. Melted within an hour or so. They try to encourage people not to run it once it starts getting wet because of land use issues. I'd hate to see a group of people make it all the way there and not get to enjoy the whole trail. |

Also has VSS and wheel speed sensors, if of some use to ya'. I guess I should pop off the lincoln wheel and try the spare Cherokee and confirm bolt pattern, too. |

Before I did an SR or SOA my approach angle was limited, rocks are not kind to shackles. With the shackles up front my handling was diminished, and my suspension was fighting with the terrain I was driving on. Manual steering doesn't help either!! After the SOA and SR it was like night and day, approach angle increased, handing was much better, not to mention my suspension worked much better and didn't "fight". This was due to the way the suspension moved. The front axle actually moved away from the rocks instead of going into it like it did before with the shackles up front. | You defitnely want to drain it if your tranny got wet,about any of your parts stores sells the drain plugs you can install by drilling your cover (make sure you have clearence buy the gears)after you drill it out most of the plugs are self tapping. |
